Alright guys, here’s a piece which I’m extremely proud and honored to reveal. It’s no secret that I’m a huge Trekkie, and when I found out that artist Matt Ferguson was working on an Into Darkness poster, I just knew it was going to be brilliant. I can imagine that working with J.J. Abrams’ mystery box can be a nightmare for any artist but Matt did just fine, creating a piece that wonderfully marries all of Abrams’ visual techniques into one cohesive vision. There are elements of grit through the posterized face, precision through the illustrated enterprise and I love the way that the lens flare adds a sense of balance and acts as a highlight to make us feel the vertical motion of the poster. I’d say this is another home run for the incredibly talented artist, and like the best kinds of movie posters, only gets me more excited for Into Darkness‘ May 17th release!

But wait, there’s more! I can also announce today that Matt is working on bringing us a set of posters for the original series films as well! As Into Darkness‘ release comes closer, we’ll rewatch all the original films for new reviews and take a look at what’s sure to be more incredible art from Matt! Keep A lookout — and without further ado, here’s Matt’s Into Darkness poster (click to enlarge):

Never-ending thanks to Matt for allowing us to share this art — also check out his classic Trek Gadgets¬†and an interview over at Blurppy.
