I feel like Scream Factory has been targeting my wallet specifically with their recent horror releases, treating older, lesser celebrated films with new editions featuring amazing artwork, transfers and tons of special features. Their newest announcement is for John Carpenter’s Prince of Darkness, which includes a cover by Justin Osbourn.

As the center of JC’s Apocalypse Trilogy (a series of world-ending films bookended by The Thing and In the Mouth of Madness), Prince of Darkness has always been gravely under appreciated but unrightfully so. As an experiment in terror, I find it to have some of the creepiest and most cerebrally sinister moments ever put on film, with a story that weaves the true nature of evil through science and inevitability. Definitely worth checking out if you’ve never seen it.

For now, all we have is the cover by Justin Osbourn and a September 24th release date, but stay tuned to Scream Factory for updates. Other recent releases/announcements include From Beyond, Lifeforce, The Burning, Phantasm 2 as well as Halloween 2,3, They Live and The Fogvia
