vinyl_front_artwork_800x800Wow, I know I’ve been posting a lot of music-realated news today, but this is another exciting release that can’t be missed. Renaissance man and all-around genius Shane Carruth has just released the full score for his upcoming film, Upstream Color! Though details about the film itself are scarce (it doesn’t release until April 5), the score, composed by Carruth himself, is beautiful, offering up plenty of ambience, textured melodies and some interesting instrumentation. I myself can’t wait to see how this all integrates with the film (supposedly the last thirty minutes are dialogue-free) but for now, the music stands on it’s own as a stunning meditation of a mystery we know very little about.

Synopsis: “A young woman (Amy Seimetz) [who] is abducted and seemingly brainwashed via an organic material harvested from a specific flower. She later meets a man (Carruth) and after the two fall for each other, they come to realize he may also have been subjected to the same process.
