Aussie duo We Buy Your Kids recently unveiled a rejected poster for David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive. Looking at this thing, I got nothing but bummer feels, because it’s actually pretty good. There are a lot of ways they could’ve went with the art, but keeping it simple retains the film’s enigma. Though the art is sparse, there are a few interesting ideas spread throughout. Like Lynch’s film, it’s also up to us to grasp for meaning and a bigger picture. Still, I love jagged line that fractures the piece, drawing our eyes from top to bottom and resulting in a beautiful composition that is haunting and filled with intangible sadness.
