Spoke Art’s next show opens this weekend, and it’s a solo exhibit from Joshua Budich. Entitled Otaku Obscura, the show is a tribute to anime, with Budich bringing his incredible style to 6 of the biggest Japanese films of all time, Akira, My Neighbor Totoro, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ghost in the Shell, Princess Mononoke and Cowboy Bebop. There are going to be a variety of sets here with the artist incorporating a wide range of sizes to display portraiture, landscapes and more. The world of anime has been instrumental in its influence to Budich, introducing him to hyper-stylized worlds which would take him far away from the “Disney approach to drawing“.
Opening reception is October 4th, from 6-10PM, with Budich himself in attendance! Online sales will begin Monday, October 6th via the Online Spoke Art Store. Visit Spoke Art or the official FB Event Page for more info!
