Sicario, from director Denis Villeneuve and writer Taylor Sheridan, was a nasty, mean little film that blew us away with its complex, shady look at the war on drugs. It was a film that implicated its audience, and amounted to one of the most intense thrillers possibly ever.
Now, Sheridan has written a sequel, and while Villeneuve and star Emily Blunt won’t be back (her story definitely ended), Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro return, and it looks like in this film, they won’t be on a leash.
