It isn’t a stretch to say that Krzysztof Kieslowski’s epic Three Colors Trilogy is some of the best cinema ever commited to film. Exploring French ideals such as liberty, equality, fraternity, the late director weaved a complex tapestry of life and love, all made distinctive by beautiful cinematography, performances and music by composer Zbigniew Preisner.
Now, Black Dragon Press is bringing the trilogy to print form with artist Victo Ngai, and their first piece is for Blue. It’s a truly haunting piece for a haunting film, bringing in some choice iconography and harnessing it into an impressionistic composition. I can’t wait to see Ngai has done with these!
