Here’s a set of previews from Mondo’s upcoming Universal Monsters show, set to run at the Austin gallery October 19-November 10. This thing looks to be legendary, featuring art from Drew Struzan, Martin Ansin, JC Richard, Kevin Tong, Ken Taylor, Rick Baker (!) and more!

First up, ShockTillYouDrop got the first look at Laurent Durieux’s The Mummy print and it’s a flat-out stunner. Words can’t express how perfectly he’s captured the film with such a classically rendered scene that’s far from any of the current graphical poster trends and closer in line with the romanticism of the film’s era.

Next up is Francesco Francavilla‘s The Invisible Man, originally unveiled at Film School Rejects! I have an extra soft spot for this character and again, Francavilla’s approach to it evokes the the film’s classic roots with hairline scratches and dirt giving the piece a film-like quality. I also love the color palette which gives half the poster bright vibrancy while plunging the other half in deep shadows.

Lastly is another Ken Taylor’s Creature From The Black Lagoon poster via Badass Digest. Taylor’s work is always immensely detailed and gorgeous, and this piece is no different. I love how he’s made the creature one with his surrounding, only calling out his abnormality through the clever use of color.

With these three pieces, Mondo’s matched up 3 beautiful and classic creatures with artists whose strengths perfectly cater to each beloved oddity. Stay tuned to @MondoNews for updates, because this is going to be one helluva show.
